SN will be on the butt, crane, barrel flat, and maybe the back of the yoke. you will have to look through a cylinder w/a light to see that one, or remove your cylinder.

I need to edit my post. The Pre-Model 10 was in fact available from the factory with a nickel finish. I apologize for my error. As you can see, not an expert.

The serial number will appear on the butt of the frame, cylinder face, barrel flat, and yoke face.

That looks just like mine except finish. Does yours have a number stamped in the yoke that is completely different than the serial number stamped on the butt of the gun?

those are assembly #s there will be one that matches on the frame. they are for the factory so the hand fitted parts stay together after bluing or nickel plating.

the polish under the plating was not done properly, creating a "wavy" appearance. So probably a re-finish, altho pretty well done. I'd say it's worth $250, max, to a dealer, $400 max, to a private party who wants it real bad.
