Title kinda says it all: Who would you recommend to take an antique item to to help determine the manufacturer, date produced, and potential value of an item? Would like to keep it near N.W. metro ATL, but would travel a bit if it's someone that's highly recommended.

I stumbled up on a pretty cool item, but frankly, antiques are WAY outta my zone (as are most things in life
🤪
). Google has been largely inconclusive.

Might be worthless, might be my retirement fund
😄
. Anybody got anybody you'd recommend??

I have a couple of andirons (firedogs). Google seems to think that they were manufactured by Bradley and Hubbard, but mine differ from the Google images.

Here’s some that are similar on eBay, but once again, mine are different.

You have to have some really old or unusual fire dogs to have any value. Market for pretty much all antiques is at a low. I've collected restored and sometimes sold antiques for several years. Young people have np appreciation for them. I use Google lense or eBay to find any info on things I have no knowledge on. I have a Bradley and Hubbard Lamp. They made some nice iron products.

I have learned a lot from my parents who have been avid antique collectors for as long as I have been alive, and I am mid forties now. I also love the antique/vintage items of any kind and have been collecting items myself.
I know things from cookie jars to cartoon glass, head vases, Iris glass ware. Furniture to tools to some firearms and much more.
I also never let a challenge beat me and will research things for days or weeks. Shoot me a message if you would like to talk about your item more.
