Need help

I bought a Henry lever action 45-70 this week and the metal around the feed tube is bent. Any help would we greatly appreciated.

Bend it back. It's hard to tell from the pic but i had a tube that was dented in and got it back in place by taking it apart and driving the appropriate sized dowel through the tube.

Yep, bend it back with a non-marring hammer, remove the brass tube, find a drill bit that just barely slips in and tap it back. Should be right as rain.

Why causes it to do that? I know a lot of Marlins don't have the removable tube for 45-70

I'd guess someone forcing the brass tube back in, the steel pin catching and lifting the metal up seems likely.

Bending back will work find as people have described. I'll bet you'll find a spare from Henry would be very reasonable, might even give it away free.
