Hey guys I could use some lead shot size #8 preferred, but 8 1/2 or 9's will do.
Anyone have some there not putting to good use?

I don't want to order it online because of the shipping....

Thanks,
Bill

You can get it locally at Tom Lowe Skeet Range down near the airport at a fair price. I buy it there becasue of the shipping. Go down there and shoot some skeet and buy it then. They have shot columns too.

Thanks Nonlib, but I couldn't put that to use either. Hold onto it, because we both know it'll be like gold to somebody somewhere down the line, lol.

Thanks Ron, that's a good ways from me, but I will look into it.

Last night as I was crashing I remembered my kids gave me a Bass Pro gift card for my birthday, so I'll redeem that today, it'll get me a couple of bags. I'll be good for a couple of months.

If I may ask-- what's a "fair price" these days? It's about $1 a pound at Bass Pro.

I just wanted some to fill up "sand bags" for bench shooting, but not at $1 a pound!

You're kidding right?

You can't buy reclaimed lead shot for $1 a pound. Reclaimed lead shot is $1.60 a pound.

The typical Lawrence brand chilled shot is $54 for 25 pounds for several years now. I used a gift certificate for Bass Pro today and picked some up at the going rate. $54 for 25 pounds, so it's more than $2 a pound.......

I suggest you fill sand bags with sand, lol. (That's still cheap).

No, not kidding-- maybe just wrong. I thought those were 50 lb. bags; maybe they were 25 for $50. It was a few years ago.

Sand is much less dense. They even sell special high-density sand for filling bags, but shot is still king. But too expensive.

Thanks for the education.

No problem, I honestly thought you were pulling my leg. lol

Oh yeah those were 25 lb bags....... now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever seen anything heavier...

Cost me $50 to fill one of those Caldwell lead sled bags several years ago. When I sold the sled , I gave the guy the empty bag and I've used that shot already.

Naw, man-- just admitting my ignorance about shot. I was stunned at how expensive it was. Now doubly so!

And it makes sense that the bags are 25 lbs. 50 would be rather unwieldy.

Those 25's are unwieldly too! Just ask the little old lady clerk that tried to put it in a bag for me today. It was a wrestling match! I said "Hold on, hold on I'll get it", but she was not to be deterred. It was her job and she was going to bag it. She'll probably be sore for a week!
