As long as I release the trigger completely after DA pull, it will reset. Pulling DA slowly through the whole cycle results in it not resetting so the next pull results in the cylinder turning but not cocking the hammer, sometimes twice in a row. Again, it doesn't get hung up if I pull the trigger hard and fast then release the trigger completely so it resets. I will be sending back to Smith but was hoping someone could give me an idea and terminology of what is going on, thanks I advance. Tried to explain the best I could.

New 686-6 PC trigger trouble.

You stated the problem pretty clearly, They should be able to function test and take it from there. My first thought was trigger rebound spring, but an not 100% on that.
BE SURE THE STRAIN SCREW IS TIGHT. IN FRONT AT BOTTOM OF GRIP. HAD ONE SOMEONE LIGHTENED TRIGGER PULL BY BACKING SCREW OUT AND ACTED SIMLAR.
SMITH HAS VERY GOOD REPAIR (WARRANTY) ON THEIR PRODUCTS. ID GIVE THEM CALL AND GET IT TO THEM. LAST ONE I SENT WAS ABOUT 25 YEARS OLD AND THEY SENT NEW ONE BECAUSE DID NOT HAVE NICKEL FRAME THEY NEEDED TO FIX IT.
