Yes we have some big cats.
You can get high desert property for about $1000 an acre in places. You can find 5 acre for around $2000 around here at times. So yes land is cheap in places. But $$$ on the West side of the Cascade Mountains..

Is there many land use restrictions on private land there? I see that the BLM is all over the place there.......is it tree huggerville or true western independent living?

We have our tree huggers, mosly on the Westside of the Cascade Mountains. My area is good ol' live and let live. There is some land use laws, But it's not to bad. Yes we have millions of acrea that are Blm owned and national forest owned. You have to get permits to log on your own property and your limited on how many acres your allowed to irrigate unless you buy up the water rights $1,200 or something like that.
We are pretty much left alone as long as you don't get carried away with what your doing. Like our small.cabin. Stay under 200.square feet and there are no permits.
If you have a well drilled you have to pay the state $300. for some dumb reason.
Hope that answered your question.
