With ammo issues going on is it affecting your new purchases? Seems like I find myself not buying guns in new calibers. Cost too much getting into a new caliber. With AK(primarily 7.62x39) ammo being almost half the price of AR ammo (primarily 5.56 ammo) are more folks buying AKs?

I got into 30-30 during this shortage, which broke my own rule of not doing that. But I really wanted the rifle and said eff it. I got about 100 rounds of ammo here and there for good trade value with my surplus ammo, and I will just wait for more ammo to eventually get back on the shelves.

but generally, I am only buying and trading for guns calibers I already own and have plenty of ammo for.

I'm not really in the market for any new guns right now.
But if I wanted a new gun just because I thought there was room for it in my collection, and IF I saw a good deal on it now at a price that I didn't think I would see that low again for many years, if ever...

then I would go ahead and buy it now, regardless of the artificially-created shortage and high prices on the ammunition.

I would have confidence that if the ammunition for this gun were affordable and available a year and a half ago, that it will return to that status again one day within a couple years.

I wouldn't mind owning a gun that I have little or no ammunition for,
because I have plenty of other guns (with ammo) to do any job I need to get done.
