New Recce/3gun build

Well, this barrel nut is way overtorqued! Gonna take some time, heat, cooling to get it off.

ETA: got it!
I ran into the same issue with a BCM barrel nut last year. It was a beast to remove.

Great job so far on the step by step tutorial. Excellent work buddy!

Thanks man. You know that almost "cracking" sound metal makes as it barely starts to move against itself? That's what this thing was doing. I was pretty scared, but patience persevered!

Yes! It definitely gives me that not-so-easy feeling. What did you do to get it off? Heat, cold or just sheer gorilla strength?

All of the above, lol. It was in my garage for the last couple days, so it was plenty cold already. I turned it muzzle up with some de-greaser down in the threads for awhile, then put some heat on it. As you know, with these things the key is steady, constant pressure, not jerking. I'd pull in the loosening direction and it would "pop" once or twice. Then I'd pull it back in the tightening direction, then reverse again. Finally got enough movement/momentum to spin it off. The receiver, index pin, and feed ramps are all good!
