New rifle suggestions

The Bergara B-14 HMR Wilderness Sierra seems like a good option as well. It has a 20.inch barrel and weighs in at 7.9 lbs. It has a more traditional stock with an adjustable comb.

This one has a #5 taper deep fluted 20 inch barrel. It seems like a good configuration for what I am looking for. Besides I don't think I will be antelope hunting in Colorado anytime soon. Giving up 4 inches of barrel might be a plus hunting up here in the mountains. I can use my heavy one for range work and this one for hunting. I like it!

I have a Tikka T3X Superlight in 6.5 CM. It has a 24” barrel. With a scope mounted, it weighs 7.2 pounds. I imagine the 6.5 PRC would be about the same weight and barrel. Also, research 6.5 PRC velocity out of a 20” barrel because it’s going to be ballpark comparable to a 6.5 CM out of a 24” barrel.

Supposedly it's a 20-30 fps loss per inch of barrel on the 6.5 PRC. So at worst 120 fps second loss which I should be able to work back up to with a little magic on the reloads. I can't see why I couldn't. Besides inside the distances I would be shooting at it shouldn't be a major factor. I will be shooting mostly reloads hunting anyway. Reloading definitely has its benefits.

I looked up my 6.5 PRC action with the #6 contour barrel and it's just under 7 lbs. That with the 4.5 lb. Boyd's stock and a 2.07 lb. scope makes for a damn heavy rifle. Even the Bergara HMR rifle are 9 lbs. Would still be lighter than what I have.. That is 12 lbs. of rifle before the optic. So a 9 lb. rifle is still lighter than my barreled action and stock.
