I'm going to out on a limb here and guess that the reason for the air pistols and Chicom swords has something to with a felonious decision made earlier in life. Could be wrong.

Based on some research, I'm pretty sure the airsoft pistols aren't stand-ins for actual firearms, he believes they are a great self defense tool.
