No CCW No Deal

I've had two buyers message me in the last week who went silent after I inquired if over 21 and CCW. Just had a third meet me and try to buy with a photo of a license on his phone. I haven't sold on here since 2016 and never had this issue. Be careful. I don't like this site like I used to.

Welcome to the New ODT.

You don't have to be over 21, or possess a CCW, to purchase a firearm from another individual in Georgia.

You aren't legally required to provide any sort of identification to purchase a firearm from an individual in Georgia.

Of course, ODT members are allowed to set whatever stipulations they want to when they are selling their items, just as buyers are allowed to refuse to meet those stipulations.

We have members post and rant about buyers refusing to meet their criteria, just as we have members that post and rant about sellers requiring a Georgia DL, GA WCL, bill o' sale, etc.

He does have that stipulation on his ads. IF I see an item I want...and the seller states "need to see a ccw" I bring it. I def don't bring a picture...

That being said...i've done probably 20-25 deals where the seller/trader stated they wanted to see a CCW...maybe 3 people asked for it at the meet. I think it is usually a "weed out the ****bags" type thing.

One dude wanted a picture of my ccw...I said "we can both walk away, or we can do the deal, but no pics of my personal info."

we did the deal.

And I agree cmshoot cmshoot

I think you're going to find less and less folks having a concealed carry permit with Constitutional carry in place in Georgia. They will stop going through the hoops to renew it unless they frequently purchase from dealers, in which case it makes more sense to maintain it in order to expedite the purchase process.

Exactly!
If a seller opts to have such stipulations, he/she must accept that they are significantly limiting their market. For example, in general I will not do a BOS. So, if a seller states that one is required in his/her listing, I just keep browsing. The seller is free to require it, and I'm free to decline. Neither of us should whine about it.
