No "Home Defense" gun?

How fast can you naturally reload a shotgun under duress? When you pick up a shotgun do you magically learn how to pie off a corner? Do a tactical reload?

Of course none of it comes naturally, that's why we train, but expecting noises to save your ass is ignorant and dangerous!
Most people do not train. They go out and panic buy handgun and think they're safe.

Jeezuz, I hope you don't give people self-defense advice. What "most people" do is irrelevant to what is the best way to prepare for self-defense.

Again, how fast can you reload a shotgun compared to a semi-auto pistol?

So from what you're saying back in the trench wars they used their pistols to raise the trench and kept their shotgun on their hip.
If you can't figure out the difference between defense in the home and trench warfare then I have no words. Carry on. Keep a recording of shotguns racking that you can play in your house 24/7, I hear it's the equivalent of those ultrasonic pest repelling devices on burglars and rapists.

Not only do I NOT have a firearm dedicated to home defense
I also do NOT have a spoon dedicated for soup only.
No ink pen dedicated for check writing only.
Dog has a bowl dedicated for his use.
I may be old fashion, some call me worse things.
For me, any firearm readily available is for home defense.
If it goes Bang! it can defend a home.
The main question may be is your home worth defending?
Or is it time to call in the bulldozers? And if so where in
tarnation did you stash your bulldozer defense gun?

You should reconsider the pen part. There is something great about a nice pen for check writing etc.

I don't have a set aside home defense gun. My home defense gun will be the one I am carrying or the one within arms reach if I'm asleep.

I guess I could dedicate my 34 for home defense.

If you suck with a handgun or carbine, then by all means, run what you are comfortable with. I'd say that to anyone. Run what you are effective with. Personally, I'm not grabbing a shotgun or a handgun.

I have a revolver in one room. A M4 equivalent in 6.8 in one room and shotgun in another. I trane with all of them. How many times weekly depends on schedule. I train mostly with a AR, a 1911 and the shot gun. I have a million acres so I run and gun with my AR and handguns. Standing target with all three and practice long range as well. Having so much land I M not limited to one form of training.

You train yourself?
