You know ... any company that sells twinkies and can't make a buck deserves to go under. With the threat of losing them people around where I live (dawsonville, gainesville, cumming) have gone bonkers and are buying whole shopping carts full of twinkies. This one big land monster I was talking too with a shopping cart packed up to her eyes said she had spent $400 today alone on twinkies.

I like twinkies too but this is totally insane. I think it's funny that people say that the end of the world as we know it type scenarios couldn't ever really happen but as crazy as people are going over just twinkies makes me think that those people are incorrect.

Bet they're gonna be pissed in a week or 2 when there's nothing else to eat in their house but twinkies ..... shoulda bought some Ramen noodles with that $400!!

The are similar but aren't as good .... there aren't enough toxic chemicals in them :D

I eat a twinkie every now and again but I am allergic to most of the ingredients (eggs, wheat, milk) so I only eat 1-2 every couple of months and already have enough to keep me stocked for like 2-3 years ... and if I couldn't have them at all it wouldn't be a big deal.

I half wonder though if what this is is a huge publicity stunt to either 1. Sell off all existing merch and build a huge cash backlog for the company or 2. attract a buyer for the company that will keep them going.

Hostess closed (18,000+ jobs GONE) because one the labor unions would not accept an 8% pay cut in this economy. Now they get a 100% pay cut and my tax dollars to boot.

Don't worry, I'm sure there are several warehouses full of twinkies that are yet to be shipped out .... don't panic buy just yet; but don't wait until they get to $50/box before you buy!!

I wonder how many truckloads are in the strategic stock-pile????

:)
