No PM's being received in email account..

Try to log into your account from a different device (smartphone) to determine if the issue is with the account or the Outlook application on your local machine.
 
Some more details for you or your wife to check:

Mailbox full?
Filters or rules blocking?
E-mail being forwarded?
If you send an e-mail from you new account to the old account do you receive any error messages?
Messages appearing out of order? - Filter/sort/date
