Old Marlin 336A Deluxe Forearm loose

I picked up a sweet old Marlin 336A the other day but it has some side to side play in the forearm and the upper swing swivel stud. Anyone have any idea what the cause may be and/or what the fix might be?

You can use black silicone or I’ve used some thick tape to tighten the forearms upon them. I’d have to see what type swivel it is to tell you what to do with it.

Might want to shoot it first. First thing to a lot of folks do is loosen the forearm or barrel band and relieve pressure to get them grouping

The wood may have dried out. You can soak the wood to expand it and reinstall after it dries. I’ve done it several times.
