An appeal by whom? The prosecution? If Zimmerman is acquitted that's that. If he's convicted I'm certain that there will be appeals but I don't see how the racial makeup of the jury would raise an appellate issue unless Zimmerman was black. If I recall, the jury is made up of 5 whites and one Hispanic. The press has reminded us daily that Zimmerman is a "white Hispanic".

If he's acquitted it's a non issue, at least legally speaking. I don't see this going down like that though. I'm thinking it ends in miss-trial or dead locked. Either way they end up having to start from scratch...

I see that a lot of you are bringing upThe Stand Your Ground law that Florida has could it not be argued that Martin may have been standing his ground against a man whom he did not know and believed was following him in a neighborhood he was unfamiliar with

Stand your ground does not apply to this case in any aspect and never has. The press brought it up because they don't understand the law. All it means is that if someone approaches to attack you that you have no responsibility to retreat if you can do so without increasing your risk. It does not mean that you can initiate preemptive violence in self defense. Attacking someone because they had been following you is not stand your ground. Neither is shooting someone because they are bashing your head into the side walk. Zimmerman's defense is standard self defense.

What it comes down to is that IF things went down as Zimmerman says, this was a good shoot. All of the physical evidence, his consistency when questioned and the results of the voice stress analysis support his claims. Remember, he was released without charges and was not arrested for 45 days and only after huge political pressure was applied. If Zimmerman is guilty, then it follows that everyone involved with the initial investigation is also guilty of incompetence or corruption. If Zimmerman is not guilty, it follows that the authorities knuckled under to political pressure (including from Obama) and the threat of rioting in the streets, and charged a man they believed to be innocent. Which do you think is more likely?

What the hell is a white Hispanic? Does that mean that he is a albino Mexican? Or does it mean he is more like a coffee creamer "Half & Half"? But I am tired of white people being treated like we owe every other race something. If this would of been a white kid I guarantee that there would be nothing said about it.
