Exactly how many undecideds do you really think are out there now? He didn't change anyone's mind about firearms one bit. If we use the logic of "it might turn someone off" to see an open carry, then you concealed carry folks should stop carrying "JUST IN CASE" someone sees yours print or accidentally get exposed. Don't alarm the masses, that's BAD!!!! Never in the history of the USA have people walked around open carrying before...

That's one person's opinion. I personally have had the opportunity to meet MANY people who I describe as "non-gun". They are neither pro or anti they simply don't have an opinion on the subject. These are the same people however who tend to believe that "common sense gun legislation" is a legitimate position, without understanding that NOTHING the antis propose contains a shred of common sense. An opportunity to educate and ally with non-gunners should never be missed.

And your hyperbole about concealed carry completely discounts the key word "concealed".

I know someone that does this. As soon as they get home, they disassemble the gun and lock it in the safe. I don't know where they store the ammo, but they do keep the gun locked up, completely disassembled.

How do you figure? An irrational person will freak out just the same. A gun is a gun, they are all deadly and scary. Especially to irrational stupid people. There was a guy here the other day talking about someone carrying a gun in a shoulder holster and how he was muzzle sweeping everyone. This guys irrational fear made him believe that a gun in it's holster is dangerous that I guess it could just go off or something. I wonder how he copes in a gun store where people are actually you know, handling guns while sweeping everyone. I don't know. Anyways an irrational person might ask why you are trying to hide your gun. Do you have some nefarious reason to hide your gun? Are you going to pull it out and start shooting everyone? You are aren't you, that's why you are hiding it, you were waiting for all of us to group up and then you were going to pull your hidden handgun out with it's high capacity magazine filled with murderous, baby seeking bullets and kill us all. OMG.

Irrational people will always be irrational. A gun is a gun. Doesn't matter that it is an AR15 or a Glock 19. They are all scary to them. You cant use logic or reason with these people. So the way I see it you have some choices. You can walk around life worrying about offending other peoples thoughts, sensibilities and fears. Or you can go about your life and not worry about what others might think about you. Do and say what you are going to do and say. It seems no matter which path you choose you are going to offend someone somewhere down the line now days anyways.
