Open Carry on Dove Shoot

Curious to know if anyone open carries their handgun during dove hunting. I’m considering since I have a belt for it that also carries my shells and such.

Especially since it’s during an open public hunt.

I haven’t been dove hunting in over a decade. I use to carry a handgun for snakes. It was much safer to carry an unloaded shotgun from one field to another and still have something safely loaded for snakes.

I’m just curious if this is still what some people do.

I personally always carry a side-arm when I am hunting, you never know what you are going to run into (human or animal).

I always carry; usually a 432PD in my front pocket. A shoot is no different. Open carrying involves a holster that would interfere with my game bag. So, no. I would not.

Your shotgun should be cased when not on stand same as your sidearm should be holstered.
