Opening day of elk rifle season, Grass Range MT

something i always wanted to do.
Me too. Minus a lot of that walking. Too much and my heart would be out of rhythm to make a good long distance shot. I can function, but that picture in the scope would be jumping up and down with my heartbeat. Then you have to time it as to when to squeeze the trigger.
If I'm running good, then I'm rock solid

I asked earlier. I think he's still counting receipts........LOL..... I don't think it's near that bad
i would hope not... but i looked on the site for elk creek adventures and it was high... like snoop dog high..
heck, double that and you could buy 20 acers in Montana. unbuildable and probably full of elk..

Whatever it costs, that's his business. Good on the OP for working hard and treating himself to a great trip. Enjoy!
you misunderstand... i am interested in doing a elk hunt... so i was wondering the cost... but at 14k you could buy some cheap land with elk on it... heck at 5k each 10 of us on the ODT could buy a good piece of land and hunt it...

Keep in mind that most of the really high priced elk hunts are bull elk hunts. For a bull elk hunt expect to pay $10-12k on the lower end for a fully guided hunt. The prices go up dramatically from there, depending on the quality of the unit, size of bulls, etc. Cow elk hunts tend to be much more reasonable - $2-3k guided. You can hunt elk without a guide, but you need to be able to draw a tag as an out of state resident and hunt on public land, and that can be a challenge to draw, at least for a really good unit.

I hunted cow elk on the Jicarilla reservation for a couple of years and it was really enjoyable and was fairly affordable, though prices have shot up like everything else.
