Opinions needed - Buying a new cooler

Redneck Yeti. Crappy old fishing cooler+12$. redneck yeti7.jpg redneck yeti4.jpg redneck yeti3.jpg redneck yeti 2.jpg redneck yeti5.jpg

Coleman steel belted are hard to beat ( price wise)

Coleman is also having sales almost every other weekend at the Coleman store in commerce.
Picked mine up for $69.99
Looks good and it will keep ice all week

I forgot to pay this off. After reading all of your comments/recommendations I bought a Coleman Extreme. It's fully insulated and built solidly enough for my needs. I keep it in the back seat 24/7 and in the current heat it retains about 40℅ of the ice after 5 days. I usually fill it on Monday, drain off the water and refill on Thursday. It sits unopened in the truck over the weekend. It cost me $49, and for my current needs spending more doesn't make sense.
Just curious. What color is the truck and do you have solar tint on the windows?

I've started to post this twice and decided not to.....but here I am on round three. I guess I just don't understand the OP's need.

In my world, a cooler is for camping, fishing, or hunting. I guess I just don't understand why someone would need a cooler in their truck for an entire week as part of a job.

I imagine it's more for convenience - "My preference would be to load the cooler with ice on monday at not have to worry about it again until the end of the week, but I have no intention of spending Yeti money. Share your experience."

Of what, though? Keeping your groceries cold that you stopped at the store for during lunch?

I'm not bagging on him, I'm just baffled by the idea.

He said he's in his truck all the time. He'd rather load it with ice and presumably add new drinks or food as the week goes on without having to worry about emptying out a cooler each day. Makes sense. While a Yeti might not be necessary, a $20 Coleman will not hold ice (at least the cheap one I have) for more than a day or two. An Extreme very well might. With all of these cooler discussions if ice retention is your primary goal and you want to save money, get a Coleman Extreme. If you want ice retention plus Grizzly protection and the dope sticker, get the Yeti. If you really want the best, get a Pelican! :thumb:

If that were my goal I wouldn't use ice at all.
