I am a newbie and was advised by a much more experienced gun owner that I should remove all of the gun identifying labes affixed to my Sig carrying case. Is this good advice? Naturally, I would photocopy them or use heat to remove them and store the labels elsewhere.
Thank you for reading and advising.

Best,

Tony

Thank you, but it is a hard plastic and foam-lined storage case (Sig). I was just talking about the labeling. Thank you for responding.

There's no real reason to remove the labels... and I keep an electronic inventory of what I own stored encrypted and offsite. If you ever send your pistol into Sig for custom work or repair the boxes come in handy as well. I leave the labels to help with which box goes with which gun.

Amateurs carry the purchase box to the range after the first visit or two. Store the box intact, no reason not to whatsoever and get a small range-bag. In the event you sell the weapon it does make it more marketable to have on hand to some. YMMV.

This is the answer... you will eventually realize you want to buy your own ammo, ears, eyes, maybe take multiple guns, etc. Get the range bag and store the boxes for selling/trading the gun in the future :)

I keep those cases like they are and just store them. Get a nice range bag to carry it around in.

if its a handgun, I would ask why it isn't in a holster, if it's a rifle, get yourself a nice soft-side or if you travel allot get a pelican.

Thank you all Didn't even know about range bags...should have bought one yesterday. I own a Sig p238, any recommendations on a range bag? I to have a leather WB holster.

Unfortunately, if you buy a new Siq with a magazine voucher needing redemption to get the second magazine, you are to put the case labels on the voucher to return to Sig to get the extra magazine. I failed to do that (missed the instructions on the voucher), but I think I found a "work-a-round" and my second magazine is in the mail.
