I'm looking for opinions from those of you that have experience with Dan Wesson revolvers. I'm looking at one in 44 mag that was made in the early 90's. I've read some reviews online that bring attention to some QC issues with DW revolvers. Please share your experience and knowledge on them with me.

I owned one in the 80s. 357, budget made, very accurate. But with hot loads the gun jammed. Hammer back, one in the chamber. Had to transport it that way to a local gunsmith to disarm it. Sent it back to factory. Supposed to have fixed it. Never trusted it again. Sold it, gave it away. Never owned another Dan Wesson again. Now that said, they are good lookin. They are a collector gun. But I wouldn't shoot hot loads in it. And that's just what a 44mag is, hot loads. I started buying S&W and never looked back. But even the new ones aren't the quality of the old ones

In for answers, too, but the particular Dan Wesson I would like to own one day is a 357 magnum with two different barrel lengths: one would be 2 inches for concealed carry, the other barrel would be 6" or even 8 inches for hunting and shooting targets.

I still have my Dan Wesson 357 I bought new over 40 years ago. I believe it is model 15-2 VH (vent heavy) . It is a six inch barrel blued gun that I had hard chromed within a couple months of buying it. I love the gun, still shoots great and never had a problem with it other than cracking the forcing cone on it from shooting too many heavy loads a couple decades ago.

They should be along soon

I have the 44 mag and 357 mag pistol pack. Dan Wesson revolvers made their name in the handgun silhouette competitions, they are very accurate and very well built. Not only can the barrels be changed easily, the tensioned barrel is what gives them their outstanding accuracy.

The only ones to watch out for are the 357 maximum revolvers. They had issues with the top strap cracking due to the extra power of that cartridge.
