Optics on a Governor

Is it possible to put a red dot on a Smith and Wesson Governor? I mean Im sure anything is possible but is it viable or better not?
Guy at the gun store said he didnt think so.

Yea they make mount for red dot to go on revolvers.

Practice would determine effective range. No different than a shotgun, which people put them on all the time now.

I have the Burris Fast Fires on my turkey shotguns and love them but on the Governor it doesn't look like much material there to drill and tap. and because of the rear site groove it really needs a rail with that profile. im just not seeing anything online that looks like it would work.

Honestly I assumed the EGW base that works on all other smiths would work on it

Does that EGW base fit S&W's with fixed sights like the Governor? Or does it only fit guns with adjustable rear sights?

I have a Hogue laser grip on my Governor. I'm not a fan of red dots though.

Im thinking it wont fit on the fixed sights because its not flat on top like most revolvers.
Hogue laser grip? ill look into that.
The front sight on my governor is black and very hard for me to see.
