Good afternoon,

Question for anyone with Kimber rifle experience. Big game caliber experience a plus. Which is the better gun the original Kimber 85 made by the original Kimber company located in Oregon, or the new Kimber Kaprivi from Kimber of New York?

I was able to handle the new Kimber at the NRA show, and it was very smooth, balanced and it felt good between the hands. I have read about the original Kimber company and make want to believe that their guns were well built with high quality. Am I wrong? If so, why?

I am in the market for a 375 H&H. I have narrowed it down to the Kimber's. Just not sure if buying a Old 85 is a good idea?

I had a newer Kimber 84M in .308. It was beautiful and handled like a dream. I had about 3 failure to fire incidents. I can’t say definitely it was the gun and not hard primers, but it was Remington factory ammo. I read online of a few complaints of the same from others. I did not get impressive groups from the bench at all. Maybe it was me or maybe it’s just harder to get groups from a bench with such a light rifle. I’ve switched about all my hunting rifles in several calibers to newer super grade Winchester model 70s. I get very respectable accuracy to outstanding accuracy from each of the Winchesters. Even got a super grade in 375 h&h. None of the Winchesters are quite as light as the Kimber was but definitely will out shoot the Kimber. As far as the original Kimbers from Oregon that I’ve handled, completely different ball game. I’ve handled a few but never shot one. In my opinion, they are what I’d call factory custom rifles and second to none in quality.

Thanks for the in put. My only concern is that Kimber Of Oregon went broke making the line of rifles of which the one I'm looking at is offered, But at the same time, and to your point. I suspect they put to much time and detail into them. The only drawback I can see is that there is no manufacturer support. If it goes South I'm on my own, and with a very expensive rifle no less.

As for the Winchester, for me, and maybe its my build and size, but Winchesters and Remington's just don't fell right in my hands. I think I have handled too many guns that were purposely built with proper balance.

Thnaks again.

There is your problem for both ftf and low accuracy .
