I picked this up about a month ago to stash away in my parts bin to use for a future project. When I bought it, I assumed it was a replica and the price was good for a replica so I grabbed it. Found a use for it recently but the more I look at it, the more I question if it's an original VFG.
I know it's not a Savage because of the lack of a stamp, but inside the bolt hole I observed cosmoline. I don't know of any repro grips that come in cosmoline and the reproduction grips I've seen appear different. This particular grip also has the appearance of being of the proper age, but again, that can be faked.
Before I decide to use this in one of my crazy bubba projects, I just want to make sure it's an actual replica so I don't go ruining something a Thompson collector and/or owner could use. If it is original, if someone could point me towards value, that would be really helpful.
