Passport turnaround time?

Just wondering if anyone has renewed or gotten a new passport recently. The ETA for standard processing is 4-6 weeks, which still gives me about a week of buffer time. I'm just worried that it's like any other goverment ETA and no where close to actual. I'm planning to overnight my application to help that much more. I may just have to suck it up and pay the $60 expedition fee if it's cutting it too close.

So, how long did it take for you?

I got mine at court house instead of Post Office. Not sure it matters.

Depends on when you file....January filings are processed quicker than May....people just can't plan till the last minute for summer vacations I guess. You could pay an expedite fee, I think it's an additional $60 or something....

Yep. 3 weeks and I applied for it at the PO early in March.

Yes, even if you stay in the boat the whole time, you need a passport.

I'm talking about in general? If I don't plan on going anywhere abroad do I need one? Is It something that every citizen should have?
