Care to elaborate? I assume this was for expedited plus overnight shipping both ways?
Get the passport card too

It was pretty fast. If you have a month before leaving, you should be fine dude. No worry. It took my about 2 weeks for my wife and kids
I flew to Chicago to get mine in one day. Not recommended though. Usually takes 3-4 weeks otherwise. I went to the Post Office with the rest of my family.
My wife got hers back last Monday. Total turn around time was 7 days. She paid for the expedited service.
It was. I went to the Gresham Road Station.
Three years ago, I got mine the same day and did the same for my daughter last year. if you can prove that your trip is within two weeks, call the Atlanta Passport Center. Submit application in the morning and pick your passport a few hours later.

But not for passport
I was doing lead based paint and asbestos survey in entire building
The Dutch embassy was in the same building and staffed with lots of hot chicks
