Today the City of Perry has downtown blocked off AGAIN for some gay ass cultural festival. Meanwhile they have not one but two Perry PD units parked on Main St running radar. Why? Because Main St is 25mph and not very well posted as such.In fact I saw six marked units in the one mile from my job to my house. I should mention that Main St is also Hwy 341. So lots of folks come into Perry that way and when they hit the downtown part they're basically free picks for the Perry PD.
And so what does that tell any of those people that decided to attend said cultural festival? Well to ME it says Perry PD is out to get you. And it shouldn't be that way given the property taxes and sky high water/trash bills they have here. To ME it's a really bad look for a town that's obviously trying to attract new residents. Guess I need to move back to a poor town where I belong.

Yeah, it burns my ass to see them sitting everywhere looking for a easy target specially during working hours

Perry has either 4 or 5 exits along I75. But Perry PD is hardly ever out there on the interstate. Even Houston Co doesn't patrol it much. Now Peach and Dooly to the north and south of Perry are ALWAYS out there. That's where their bread is buttered.
Hell even as poor as McIntosh Co was I never got bothered by city or county on the surface roads. Darien PD didn't give a **** if you were buckled up or not. And I would have expected the whole town to be a speed trap. My last daughter swears she's moving back there when she's 18. I only moved back here to lookout for my Mom. She hates Perry too but we're both kinda stuck .

Move Mom with you. Unless you just can't get her too. I know how that is. Now if the Wife ain't movin, that another story. Otherwise, what's the hold up?

Everything costs more than I have. As it is now I make more money than I ever have. But it's still not nearly enough. I keep very low overhead but I actually need a second job. And that's very depressing. The kinda **** that keeps me awake at night. In fact very recently I just faced up to the fact that I'm never gonna own a home or property. The market priced me out a while back . In fact new apartments keep popping up all over this county and they ALL start at over a grand a month. Who can pay that? And if you could pay that (or most likely a lot more) then why would you rent and not buy? A while back people and news outlets were talking about "The Great Reset" which basically was where the money people wind up with everything and you keep paying them for **** you'll never own. I think that already happened a long time ago.

I understand. There are some people that never want to own. Then there are those that never want to pay their house off. I'm sure glad my wife and I bought our first starter home many years ago. Yes it's hard at first. But it gets better as time moves forward. On that first $78k purchase, we lived there for 36yrs. Then we found a deal on a older fixer upper. We sold our old to us home for 4+ times what we paid for it. And bought our new to us larger place and pocketed money to boot. Now our new to us home is worth 3+ times what we paid for this one so far. And our quality of living is better than what we had.
The point is, it takes time. A long time to build equity. And there's never a better time to start than right now. It'll never getting cheaper than it is right now, generally speaking. Yes there are ups and downs in the market. We didn't really have that this time. You can bet I was so surprised. I do believe the interest rates will get lower. My wife and I bought when it was 10% back in the day. Imagine that. We refinanced when the rates came down to like 8%. From there we managed to pay it off after several more years.
I don't know how old you are. Something tells me you have a little age on you. You have to plan, work and dream for these things. It's the only way it will ever happen. My plan, back in the day was to build a place for $20K. Nobody was having that including my wife, go figure. So we bought a starter home. My concept all those years ago turned into what? The Tiny Home movement today. It ain't much, but it can be yours. If I had it to do over, that's what I'd do today. That or a trailer.
I just asked my wife if she'd live in one today? NOPE, she said. Well some things never change. The point is if there's a will, there's a way. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy. If it was, everybody would be doing it. Owning is the only way to get your cost of living down. Another idea is, rent to own

Well, I love your rant...
I truly believe that most of these speed limit in the small cities, are just a trap to steal money from drivers. I drove by Acworth the other day, exiting I-75 at exit 278 which connect to hwy 92. They doubled that road all.the way to Hwy 41. It looks like a Highway ready for a 55 or even 65 MPH. The speed signs that was on the old two ways, narrow road are still there, and those crooked rattlesnake COPs hiding everywhere to get the distracted drivers going at 50 +....

I won't say much about "School Zone", but some schools are 1.5 miles away from some roads, with fences and security doors that looks like a prison, yet the Cities put 25 MPH signs; I think is just another money making opportunity...:noidea::nod:

I hear cops talk about speeding in school zones as they make excuses for those damn cameras. Yeah I think we're ALL against speeding in school zones except for the lucky sperm assholes that attend Perry High School one street over from me. I've told one cop that there's a school zone around every ****ing corner in this town.
Side note: I saw a video about school zone cameras and a guy in Jonesboro or Forest Park that got a ticket from one. But when he dug a little deeper he discovered that the ticket was issued at 6:00 in the ****ing evening on a SUNDAY. So he called and finally got a human who tried explaining it away calling it a glitch. Then come to find out they made over $500K from those "Glitches" . At that point it's no longer a glitch. It's racketeering and SHOULD be treated as such .
Anyway after posting this thread I wound up watching several videos about "The 10 Worst Places to Live in GA". But I'll tell you what... several of those little towns look WAY better than this. Like Tennille, Wrightsville, Swainsboro, etc. Hell even up yonder in places like Hoschton. I think I got it figured out as far as these towns go. If they got a damn Walmart or a Starbucks it's too big for me. I need somewhere with a Red and White or IGA grocery and a Western Auto. One funny thing I should mention is that one of those Worst Places videos number 10 town was Ft Valley where we used to live.
