So I got a sweet deal on this police trade in, she's in fantastic shape but the black had some holster wear. Been thinking of polishing a slide for a while now, finally got the courage to do it. I figure if I mess it up or get bored with it I'll just get Duracote, Cerkoate, NibX, etc. I didn't want to go too deep and get beyond the tenifer coating. Stripped the slide completely. I used Flitz going from scotchbrite pad, paper towels, to a soft wash cloth. A few q-tips for the finger grooves. Definitely not the 'mirror' polish that is sometimes done with power tools, but I had 8 hours and some elbow grease to invest, and I can always take more off.. but can't put any back on. I highly doubt I made it through any of the real metal treatment, but if so I'll report back with rust issues. She's sitting inside my sweaty waistband as I type this.
Cool story Bro, right?
