Purple Dead Nettle is that stuff in your garden/lawn that blooms in late winter.
Then there is henbit that is very much like Purple deadnettle.
Stems are square on both.

kudzu!!! completly edible
Polk-salad, just cook it up like any other green. Don't eat the berries.
Poke Weed aka...poke salad is edible in the spring when it first comes up. However, the plant is poisoness if not prepared correctly. My family has been eating it as long as I can remember. Lamb's quarters is another that grows in Georgia that is edible either raw or steamed or boilded with other greens. Also Dandelion root, and leaves are edible.
There is always acorns.... Plenty around here. They can be soaked in water to remove bitterness and cooked like rice or dried, ground and used as a meal or flour
Yes sir! Pick the young green leaves and fry them crispy....delicious!
Wild onions
Dandelion leaves, cat tail roots
And for a caffeine fix, you can boil yucapon holly roots to make tea. Just be careful... It is really strong stuff.
