Poverty Pony

I'm scratching my head wondering 'why'. It's not like Anderson make anything that Ruger can't.

No patents that I can think of. Manufacturing capacity maybe?
Take the Anderson production line, change out the stamps to imprint the Ruger name/logo and you have a “Ruger” gun produced at Anderson costs and it can be sold at a higher Rugerish price point.

Exactly. And folks would lovingly pat the side exclaiming "This is a Ruger...."

Anderson, Ruger, and S&W are all of the same quality.

Crappy, nitrided BCG’s that leak gas, oversized gas ports, everything slapped together without proper assembly techniques.

The “good” thing is the inefficient BCG’s and oversized gas ports probably work together. The oversized port lets too much gas system into the system, then the out-of-spec BCG’s leak a bunch of gas, and it kinda sorta balances out.
