If I didn't own any firearms but suddenly wanted one because of current conditions in the year 2020, I think I'd pay twice what had been the standard fair market value as of the beginning of this year.
I'd pay the newly-inflated prices both for a gun and some ammo for it.
It would be worth it.

But as a "gun guy" with a decent collection already, I certainly won't be part of the market buying anything at the new prices,
and that means I'll be shooting less so that I don't feel compelled to replace my ammo supply at the current high prices either.

Except .22 rimfire. I've got a few bricks of standard velocity 22 ammo that's over 30 years old, and it's really just time to go ahead and use it up!
