Private handgun sales/trades in GA

Multiple search engines return more than a hundred links to the actual firearm law, but for some reason AI generates this nonsense probably based on a post from an unrelated question on Reddit

Hi, I haven't participated in a private gun sale in several years and I understand that there have been changes to the law since my last transaction. As I understand it, private sales of long guns (rifles & shotguns) between Georgia residents are legal without a background check under Georgia law. However, the private sale of handguns must involve an FFL for a background check. Is this correct?

Also, what if the transaction in a trade (handgun(s) for handgun(s))? In this case, the buyer (trader) obviously already has a handgun so a background check is pointless. I'd love to hear some thoughts and get some clarification on this.

Thank you.
all you need is me... pay my gas and 100 bucks and i will witness it......
all kidding aside
i just ask the questions and check ID. just a look at the DL to make sure they are old enough and a GA resident...
