Promedoca machete from the DR- WTF is this thing made out of?

picked this up at goodwill for $7. It's old but it had never been sharpened and the handle is is perfect shape. I've burned through a norton 120grit belt on my Ken onion worksharp and am half way trough a second. I've never seen a machete made out of such tough ****. I've got it machete sharp at the moment- I don't have another 3 sets of belts or another 2 hours to spend on this. I am impressed though. My imacasas sharpen right up. 10-15 passes and we are shaving sharp.

I can't find much about the brand- hoping someone else can share some knowledge

Just curious - does harder to sharpen mean harder to get blunt again assuming it's only used on cutting brush and small trees?

I broke down and used those carbide v shaped things. That saved some time. I'll go back and clean it up later. My wife moved me into a uppity neighborhood where the HOA gestapo requires immaculant yards. So I like to take my shirt off, drink beer and trim my bushes with machetes. Just so people don't talk to me. It's worked pretty wel.
