Question for the LEOs!

Looking at a base salary of 50k 100% free healthcare, 3 or 4 weeks paid vacation, all the overtime you want, side gigs for cash using public owned car and equipment, drive car home even out of county, etc. - just seems a big disconnect with the public at large. Leo's rise in rank/pay by job performance I assume - how big of factor is # of arrests/tickets and is the incentive public safety and justice or monetary.
I'm not against law enforcement like most I just see it gettin out of hand even militarized.
Without law and order murdering gangs would run rampant - without freedom murdering gangs with uniforms and badges would take over. I get it it's a tough, high stress job that should be compensated but it sure seems like a different set of rules for laws and commoners.

Where do I start.
In order I guess.
No free health care, 3-4 weeks paid vacation would take about 20 years to accumulate.
Side gigs still get taxed.
Assuming you are talking about lazy vs workers, yeah it may make a difference on promotions. Which one would you promote?

Quotas and rewards for such are specifically against the law in Georgia, and the state has removed the right to do traffic work, if they make more than a certain% of their annual budget. .
If you are good at traffic you will likely find yourself doing traffic gigs, if the department is big enough. Not sure they all feel that’s a promotion though.

Bank’s county promotes the free health insurance on the Sherrif home page and also the salaries- a ton of BS tickets doesn’t mean you’re a good patrol officer- the pto is also promoted on their website - meth trade running rampant but always time for seatbelt tickets and no tag light tickets- I don’t know any cops buying their kid’s clothes at Good Will

One among thousand for a basic no thrill plan, you want a better plan than you will pay more. But it’s pretty bad talking to friends at that department, but most would prefer the $2 more an hour they make.

Banks is one of the best paid rural departments in the state, and doesn’t even come close to the salaries previously purported in this thread.

Which county refused to hire you?

Most states require registration in their state within x days to avoid that scenario. In Georgia it's 30 days.
#Fact, when I moved to GA in 2005 (October), I got pulled over for speeding. The officer gave me a warning because I still had OK tags on my vehicle but had a GA address, it was around the middle of November. He said exactly what you wrote - "30 days".

A large amount of Trucking Companies have their registration in other states. This is nothing new, although sketchy sounding . Have an office in another state and have an LLC.
Some offices have a hundred or more LLCs at that same address for the purpose of saving money. The State the office is in loves it, as they collect vast amounts of taxes without having to provide any real services.
