Rat snake or king snake?

That was a harmless (and useful) Dekays Brown. Probably the most common snake in Georgia.

Also very calm little guys. I kept one as a pet for a year when I was a kid. Not prone to biting or aggression, will eat what you put in front of it, not picky, and if you pick it up it thinks you're a big, warm, mobile tree.

I relocated one at the job site last week and that joker released his musk on me. First time I’ve had that happen handling them.

The snake in the OP is a grey rat snake. Aka oak snake. They love chicken eggs. I’d relocated 5-6 every year when we had chickens. Had one in the back yard last week. I just let him mosey on
