Recommended AR or AK

Everything positive about ARs that has already been said plus another big one. An average AR is far more accurate than an average AK. With a typical AK anything past about 150 to 200 yards and all you can do is spray and pray. With an AR you can at least double that range and often times triple it. That's a serious additional capability.

If you're shooting at someone 500 yards away with an AR, they are in a gunfight. With an AK, they might as well be standing around waiting to see if lightning will strike them.

Thank you, guys. Guess I'll have to go on credit cards and get both. Just to make a demo-rat happy.LOL

Yep get em both. Anyone who likes guns should be proficient in two of the most popular firearms on the planet. But just beware that not all "cheaper" AKs and ARs are created equal. There are several brands I'd personally steer clear of such as Lancaster or IO when it comes to AKs.

If you REALLY want to complicate things, opposite of what GNG mentioned about an AK in .223 or you could get an AR in 7.62x39.

Either way would make sense because then you only have one ammo to buy.

And let's face it, a gun without ammo is a club.

Good luck and welcome to the party!
