Did Remington ever make a Remington 700 SS .308 wood stock. I just bought one but a I am questioning the stock. The serial number is S6769644. The butt plate has Pachmayr on it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Is it fluted?
I have a fluted CDL with a wood stock that was an anniversary gun for the 3006 cartridge.
They made a different caliber in a fluted CDL every year .
Not sure which year the 308 was released though

No it's not fluted. The serial number and the date code puts it at 1999 date. I called Remington and they verified the manufacture date but could not tell me what version of the rifle was.

Yes, they did a stainless, fluted, wood-stocked CDL in .308.
