Retailers Swapping New to Used Magazines on New Pistol Sales?

It happened a lot with "new" Glocks. Dealers would take out third magazine or swap out used for new and then resell the extra or new mags in the store. It slowed down or stopped after people started to complain to Glock and Glock stripped the stores from being Glock dealers. Some crooked dealers would clean up used guns and sell them as new thinking that most nimrods would not know the difference, especially true during the buying frenzy and all of the first time gun buyers.
After the 94 AWB there were usually ads in the Shotgun News for " Cop Trade in Glocks" . Glock and some big wholesalers figured out that they could get the old cop guns in with the pre ban hi cap mags and sell the cop agencies new guns with " Law Enforcement Use Only" marked mags. Then they could retail the old guns with one mag and sell the pre ban mags at a premium. At one time in 95/96 I remember seeing used hi cap Glock mags going for nearly $50.00 each.

Hell of a way to make money! Take out he mag put in used and sell new mag! Could be just an error at the shop! Where was it?

I'd rather not say where just in case it's really not their fault, I love their prices and staff. I will still be either taking it back or showing them exactly what's going on.

Thanks for all the posts everyone. I will take all the advice and hope I get a new mag out of it! I really don't want to take the gun back, it's definitely the mag not the mag well or gun itself.

I had the same problem with a local shop in Marietta. Both mags in a new gun were used, and different brands. Clerk blew me off, so I said something here. The owner responded and made it right.
