I like AKs best even though I know ARs are more user friendly. My Zastava M70 would be what I would grab in a defense situation...as long as I didn't have to carry it or hold it up too long. Yeah it's heavy.Bear with me here. I am not an AR guy. If I got to plink I grab a 10/22, RA Rimfire, 9mm problem solver….. I reload and shoot “hunting rifles” for fun. I always hunt a light trim sporter bolt action or single shot. I hate hunting with an AR, my preference only so no cursing or flinging poop.
Hit me with recommendations for a repel boarders and invaders only AR or AK variant. Should I stick with 5.56 or go up? What optics? Can’t be too heavy as I do have some physical limitations. Should I scrap it and go with my 870 ghost maker?
Just know that ARs chambered in .223/5.56 indoors are more disruptive than concussion grenades; especially if there's sustained fire and from shorter barrels. Suppressors mitigate this greatly. That being said, ain't nothing like good old 870 with some 00 buck for the house.
Got that covered. Proven soul snatcher for the last 31 years.Shotgun if you live close to people. I keep a shotgun and pistol handy. I’m paranoid of hitting a neighbor. My house is brick, but I don’t want to take a chance of killing or wounding my neighbors from bullet travel. Could be I’m paranoid and it could never happen, but I don’t think an intruder would stick around after a couple indoor shotgun blasts. Just my thinking….
