Retirement is closer than I thought.

Received an email from Corporate May 23, it was a voluntary retirement incentive offer.
I'm jumping on it, and I'm already starting to practice retirement.

They offered 2 years of the same benefits I have now, and 6 months' severance pay.
I'm 63, so it works out perfect, even better I can pick my last day with the farthest date being Nov 23
which is my wife's birthday. So, when the 2 years are up, I'll be 65 and she'll be 64, so I'll need to
buy 1 year insurance for her.

I started with the company when I was 20, I'll have over 43 years in, I'm ready.
When I did the math, I could not make the numbers add up to me waiting past 62!

We had 1.5 days of off site meetings this week with HR.

Team and trust building.

If I could retire today I would.

Good for you OP
I wanted to retire before I was 25. So at 26, I came up with a plan to retire by 50. Did whatever I had to, to keep it going. Well that didn't work either, but at least it was a plan. And that's far better than none

My 63rd birthday was last Sunday (June 01) talked to a budy today who had forgotten.
He said birthdays just arent as meaningful as when you were a kid.
I said well it does start the two year countdown to medicare qualification, which give me more freedom to choose.

It's good to celebrate, but lets forget the number of years......
