I carry a revolver a lot. However I realize that when my revolver fails its will really fail. When a semi fails it can normally be addressed by a tap rack another pull of the trigger. I feel my Glocks are just as reliable as my revolvers. Ive never sent a semi auto back to the factory. I have sent a few back to S&W. there are no absolutes.

For pocket carry I prefer a J frame. For belt carry a semi just makes more since because I can have more rounds on board in a flatter package. Again I carry a J frame a lot but Ive seen things shot that didnt react the way I wanted them to simply because they were shot. The idea of being able to put more holes seems to appeal to me today. Tomorrow is another day.

But semis
can have silencers

and bayonets. (On the under-frame accessory rail)

I actually carry a J frame 38 special a lot.

And for the last year and a half it's been one with a 3 inch barrel,
which I think improves both pointability and recoil management.

I had to sell my 642 recently and absolutely feel naked without it. pocket, OWB, AND shoulder carried in winter. Light, extremely reliable, and very discrete with options depending on situations.
