When I'm doing the speed limit and somebody gets on my bumper like that, I usually drop my speed by about 5 or 10 mph and just cruise along. If they're in that big a hurry they should've left the house earlier.The world is full of loonies, coming back from a ODT deal Saturday, I'm coming down the highway, cruise control on, listening to tunes when some nut got on my bumper, less than 10 feet off at 55mph, he's swerving left and right, he can't pass because of on coming traffic, so he starts blowing his horn, jumping up and down in his seat, screaming, giving me the finger, I just keep watching him in my rear view mirror, so for almost 10 miles this fruit cake can't pass me, three times he started to pass off road on the right and almost clipped a pole. I gently put my SIG in my lap in case Numb nuts decided to ram me.. He finally made a left turn on another road right in front of another car who had to lock up their brakes to keep from T Boning this inbred wacko.. O.C.G.A. § 40-6-184
Penalty and Points:
– Maximum $1,000 fine, 12 month sentence
Although a $1,000 fine sounds excessive, this violation is categorized as a misdemeanor and misdemeanors in Georgia carry penalties of up to a $1,000.00 fine and up to one year in jail.
– It appears that this will be a 3 point violation.
Wording of New Law:
A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Article 9 of Chapter 6 of Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated,
relating to speed restrictions, so as to modify provisions relating to impeding traffic flow and
minimum speed in left-hand lanes; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective
date and applicability; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
Article 9 of Chapter 6 of Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to
speed restrictions, is amended by revising Code Section 40-6-184, relating to impeding
traffic flow and minimum speed in left-hand lanes, as follows:
“40-6-184.
(a)(1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede the normal
and reasonable movement of traffic, except when reduced speed is necessary for safe
operation.
(2) On roads, streets, or highways with two or more lanes allowing for movement in the
same direction, no person shall continue to operate a motor vehicle in the most left-hand
lane at less than the maximum lawful speed limit once such person knows or should
reasonably know that he is being overtaken in such lane from the rear by a motor vehicle
traveling at a higher rate of speed, except when such motor vehicle is preparing for a left
turn.
(b) Whenever the commissioner of public safety or the commissioner of transportation or
local authorities determine on the basis of any engineering and traffic investigation that
slow speeds on any part of a road under their respective jurisdictions impede the normal
and reasonable movement of traffic, such commissioners jointly, or such local authorities,
may determine and declare a minimum speed limit below which no person shall drive a
vehicle except when necessary for safe operation, and that such limit shall be effective
when posted upon fixed or variable signs.
(c) Upon roads, streets, or highways with two or more lanes allowing for movement in the
same direction, no person shall continue to operate a motor vehicle in the passing lane once
such person knows or should reasonably know that he or she is being overtaken in such
lane from the rear by a motor vehicle traveling at a higher rate of speed. For purposes of
this Code section, ‘passing lane’ means the most left-hand lane other than a high occupancy
vehicle lane.
(d) Subsection (c) of this Code section shall not apply:
(1) When traffic conditions or congestion make it necessary to drive in the passing lane;
(2) When inclement weather, obstructions, or hazards make it necessary to drive in the
passing lane;
(3) When compliance with a law of this state or with an official traffic control device
makes it necessary to drive in the passing lane;
(4) When a vehicle must be driven in the passing lane to exit or turn left;
(5) On toll highways, when necessary to pay a toll or use a pass;
(6) To authorized emergency vehicles engaged in official duties; or
(7) To vehicles engaged in highway maintenance and construction operations.”
SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2014, and shall apply to offenses committed on
or after such date.
SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
Looks like that only applies when there are two travel lanes going in the same direction. In that case they could just go around me and not be on my bumper in the first place. I'm talking about a two lane road with just one lane going each way. If I'm doing 55 and you fly up on my bumper, you better be ready to do about 45 until you can find a spot to pass me.for your reading pleasure

I have seen my fair share of piss-poor driving , that is why I purchased a dash cam! when they do see it I love the attitude change ! I tell all my friends to get one.Today it happened. I absolutely lost my mind on the way to work. Another vehicle who failed to read the sign that their lane was about to run out almost ended up running me off the road. They had a local tag and the road signs were not new. I can get over that after blowing my horn typically. Which initially I did. Then it happened again. About 2 miles later on the interstate. I'm cruising along in the far left lane maintaining speed with the guy in front and the same offender whipped into my lane where I had to all but lock up my tires. Their lane had slowed so they HAD to move over, regardless of the other lanes speed. I saw them cut off several other cars and force another guy into the next lane. This person was clearly entitled.
I say all that to ask, at 30 years of age, how will I survive a career in this city? The offender will most likely end up getting killed for reckless driving or shot by someone who has no self control. Me? If I keep going like this, I'll be dead at 40 from high blood pressure or some other type of coronary failure. This city is continually getting worse and the people on the roads could not care less about you/me. I'm beyond sick of it...
