I Just picked up a Ruger precision rifle in 308. This thing is saweeet... Anyway, I need help with a scope on it. Trying to decide between a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50, Trijicon Accupower 4-16x50 and last a HiLux Pentalux Tac - V 6-24x50 all of them are nice but want help deciding.

20" barrel 308 needs ALOT of elevation to get to long distance. I think I remember the Trijicon being pretty limited in elevation making it a non starter for me. Out of the choices you have here, I would go with the Vortex. In my opinion, the best current choice for slightly more $$$ but few compromises is the Nightforce SHV F1 FFP 4-14x50.

How much is one of those nightforce you mentioned? I am very partial to trijicon as I have trijicon HD's on all my pistols. I own to trijicon Accupowers 1-4's on my Ar's and a Trijicon MRO. The only optic I own thats not a Trijicon is my Nikon Buckmaster thats on my 7mm Browning.

What are you trying to do with this rifle? The PST is the best optic if you want to do any sort of prs matches or ukd. Trijicon is just meh. Not much in the options department but if 100 yds paper punching is all you will do then go for it.

What is your budget? Burris xtr 2 is an excellent choice as would anything from SWFA or even the Bushnell dmr. If you can swing $1500 then gen 1 razors and bushy xrs along with the Nightforce shv would all serve you well.

Out of what you listed, the VVPST.

The Trijicon is an OK scope for "tactical" use, but an outstanding hunting scope. I use one on a custom hunting rig I have in .338-06AI. Like the man above said, lack of features is the main issue to me. If Trijicon wants to play the game, they need to step theirs up.

I will throw another vote out for the Nightforce SHV.

I have the Nightforce SHV 5-20x56 on mine and really like it. I got mine before the new F1 came out.
