Ruger 10/22 Charger - Scope or Red Dot w/Magnifier?

Would 3X work? They also make a 5X.

A bunch of modern scopes parallax down to 10 or 25 yards now, but that is still 30 - 75ft. You can somewhat negate the parallax on low power.

But you have a bunch of outside the norm variables. The distances you shoot and the really low velocity ammo are the biggest.

Personally, with your set-up, I'd just go with a red dot. Something like an eotech reticle with holds will give you some idea of a dope.

I have a red dot on my charger (VQ 6" barrel) but run a Nikon prostaff EFR 3-9x on my standard 10/22. The nikon has adjustable parallax (down to 10 yards) and is a great option for 22lr from 30-150 yards. They are out of production but you should be able to find a deal on a lightly used one if you aren't in a rush. The EFR is the rimfire version.

I have a 7-35x that will get parallax free down to 11m. It’s a shooting machine. I use it for precision work, thus the optic choice. For your use, a 1-2 moa dot red dot would probably make more sense. Or go the lpvo route. Parallax won’t matter much under 10x

Just sayin' 😉

Vortex Crossfire II series of scopes would work.

They make a 2x7 and a 1x4 with cross hairs and an illuminated dot in the middle. The cost is around $150 or so for either option. The 1x4 is a 30mm tube so finding a mount that will work on 11mm dovetail is a little harder, but doable. The 2x7 is 1" tube.

Its tough being they all have good and bad.

Have 2 rifles with Eotech's and magnifiers-Both G33 and G45
Have 2 rifles with Aimpoint T2's
Have 1 NX8 LPVO.

Close vs far and how often, eye box, weight. They all have their use lol.

I grab an Eotech and magnifier more often than they others
