Ruger AR 556 sling options

porter62 porter62 no dumb first questions, as a shooter, I want you to be safe and comfortable and shoot well. Ask away! Congrats on the new rifle. It’s a slippery slope. What ever you do….NEVER go on opticsplanet.com 😁

I second the vickers. Very well made. I have some from magpul too and would be a good starter. I have a single point for my shorter ar and use a two point for almost everything else.

You’ll have to try a few and get used to it. Adjustable with a slide is a must. Takes a minute to get the lengths right but worth it.

TIP: Grab the rifle with your trigger hand and put your opposite arm and shoulder through the sling.

Im smart and dumb but I also never had anyone show me how to use a sling properly. I practiced in the house getting a feel for them when I first started using them. I sure felt like “duh” when I finally figured it out.

A 2-point sling, like the Vickers sling from Blue Force Gear, or the CSF from Forward Controls Design.
This is what I have and was going to suggest. I do believe Amazon carries the Vikers slings. They have a loop that makes adjustments easy, fast and on the fly. Plus have a nice pad so it doesn't dig into your shoulder. Not cheap but well worth the price of admission.
