Hi Y'all,
New to the forum. Wanted to post my recent upgrades to my well used Mini-14 non-Ranch 184 series. I've owned it for many years. Have been fascinated by Col. Cooper's scout scopes and had seen others add scout rails. Decided to try a mini-scout.
In the original form it had an 18.5" pencil barrel with a pinned John Madsen flash hider and front sight. Worked well for plinking, but would string shots when hot. I wanted something shorter and handy.
Adjustable gas block and strut, TechSights R200 M1 style rear sight and extra power guide rod spring from Carl over at Accuracy Systems Inc. Carl is knowledgeable and responsive.
Took it over to the great gunsmithing team at GA Firing Line in Marietta before Christmas. They cut it down to 16", added the Cogburn M1 style front sight and the Griffin Armament taper mount flash hider for my Griffin Paladin.
With iron sights it is holding groups together now and shooting as well as I can with a looped sling. GA Firing line adjusted the gas so brass lands withing a couple of feet and not across the street
. Works with the suppressor as with no need to change the gas.
Will post later once I get a scout scope on it and dialed in.
