Landed this M77 Hawkeye in a caliber (300 RCM) that by most accounts is a commercial failure but I really enjoy. Made a trade of a couple non Ruger pump 22 rifles. I'll get this one ready for the 2025 deer season. We need this fire power for our huge GA deer right.. LOL

Scoped this up today and took to the range. Impressive accuracy at 100 yards with 150gr SST's. Barks a little bit but that's part of the fun.

Is is like the 300 wsm and wssm’s?
The goal of the .300 Ruger Compact Magnum (RCM) rifle cartridge was to provide the performance of a .300 Winchester Magnum in a shorter cartridge designed to be used in a short-action rifle. This was achieved by partnering Ruger and Hornady to develop a cartridge based on the .375 Ruger case, shortened to roughly the same length as a .308 Winchester, but with a larger case capacity.

The goal of the .338 Ruger Compact Magnum (RCM) rifle cartridge was to provide magnum-level performance in a compact, short-action rifle. It was designed to offer the power of a .338 Winchester Magnum but in a shorter, more maneuverable package, making it suitable for hunting medium to large North American game.
