Russian Izhevsk build value?

Who did the build?
Complete matching parts or mismatch?
Original barrel or us made barrel?
Pics of quality of work?
Date of kit? Some dates are more valuable then others.

Worse case I'd say 1400 which is basically what these kits are going for currently. If the kit is matching and looks good and was done correctly then I'd say you are probably low on the price or want to move it quickly.

Unfortunately it’s at a gun shop and they have no idea who did the build. The date on the front trunion is 1961. As best I could tell all the numbered parts match. Not 100% on the barrel, but it seems to match with the rest of the parts. I’m trying not to call too much attention to it because they have it listed as Romanian, but the proof mark is definitely Izhevsk.

Next question is what's your goal with this? You want to buy it to collect, you plan to shoot the crap out of it or do you wanna flip it?

I think if you wanna buy it to collect then I'd say that's a fair price if the build quality looks good and hasn't been shoot to death. If you wanna flip it then MAYBE. A lot of AK collectors want kits and not built guns. Without knowing if its a matching kit is gonna make a huge difference value wise in the collector market.

Honestly I want a good shooter, but if I can get a Russian kit build for a bargain I’d pay a little extra money. On the other hand, if it’s not worth the extra money I’ll find another rifle.

Thanks for the help guys. I’ve decided that with all the unknowns I’m going a different route. Its been 23 years since I owned my last AK and I’m pretty sure whichever one I wind up with will be my last AK so I just want to make sure I get the right one.

look at the WBP options if you think you might want a kit built and want to shoot it. I believe some prebuilt guns are coming in also. With the rarity and import issues I wouldn't buy anything Russian guns to use as a shooter as they will only continue to climb in value.
