I never did any offshore fishing, but grew up a bike ride from the Indian river. Took plenty of fish out of there over the years. My biggest was a 32 inch red.
Nice fish, poppy926. That area we fish is (seemingly) loaded with reds. Big reds. Every single one is well over the slot limit. Some really heavy bulls, too.
I grew up just north of Titusville Fla. and there are a few spots where you will rarely catch a legal fish. Loads of fun. I think the best time I had it was only about an 18 to 20 incher that I caught on a 5wt fly rod while wade fishing for sailor choice. I got it to the leader but when I went to net it he broke off. Man that was a blast, fought it for about half an hour.
I love fishing Titusville area--caught some big big red dog there--mostly on fly--hallover going into the lagoon held monster reds on he bottom fishing with live pin fish--what a great place--
Oh yes I know Hollover very well. I grew up in Scottsmoor we used to fish the river side of the canal. Do you know where the steel X is in the water north of Titusville? If so theres an island near there where we used to pull some mosters out of. Always on the north side of that island, between the island and the bank. We usually used dead shrimp or cut mullet and never anything between say 10am and 3pm. Never could find them during that time of day.
